Ibn Rushd, known in Europe as Averroes (born 1126 CE - 1198 CE), was a great Andalusian (Spanish-Islamic) scholar. He was a judge (Qadi), a physician and a philosopher. His work "Tahafut al-Tahafut" (inconsistency of inconsistencies) responded to philosophical criticism and defended the use of rational reasoning. Ibn Ross stated that there is no conflict between the truth of religion (Revelation) and the truth of reason (Reason), because the two truths can not be contradictory.
