There is no excuse for those who forsake righteousness and blindly follow their ancestors. Allah tells us that, of course, many refuse to convert to Islam for fear of the social pressures around them. Many reject Islam because they do not want to change their ancestral beliefs and superstitions. And many are restrained by the obsession with sin that is deeply ingrained in them. These people have no excuse for them in these matters, and they will stand before Allah as Lord without any argument. The claim that "I am still an atheist because I was born into an atheist family" is not an excuse for an atheist. Instead, they should use their God-given wisdom to observe the wonders of heaven and earth, and use their God-given mind to discover that this vast universe really has a Creator. Likewise, those who worship idols have no excuse for following their ancestors. Instead, they have to search for the truth and ask themselves: Why should I worship inanimate objects that I can not hear, I can not see, and can not benefit me like this? What is it made for?
