🕌 Manners when entering a mosque
Mosque etiquette
The mosque is the house of Allah ﷻ and the most sacred place on earth. These are the key manners to observe:
1. Modest dress that covers the awrah
Wear clean clothes that cover the awrah, for men and women alike; women should wear the hijab.
2. Enter with the right foot and say the du'a
Step in with your right foot and say: «اللَّهُمَّ افْتَحْ لِي أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِكَ» (O Allah, open the doors of Your mercy for me).
3. Greeting the mosque (Tahiyyat al-Masjid)
It is Sunnah to pray two rak'ahs before sitting down in the mosque.
4. Silence your phone and keep the peace
Switch off your ringtone and do not talk loudly or disturb others who are praying or reciting the Quran.
